VOLUNTEERS/MEMBERS OF ADVISORY COMMITTEES WANTED:

We have a dedicated bank of volunteers who help at various events and we have lots of ideas for fundraising but are short of people to organise them. If you can help in this way, or are prepared to help others in running an event or activity, please come forward. You will have fun and will be very much appreciated. New ideas are always welcomed. Help is also required with admin tasks, gaining funding, computers and website. To find out more please contact Wilma on 824102.

REGULAR GROUPS/EVENTS

Connecting Dorset - We are part of the Connecting Dorset initiative to put computers in village halls and have a computer, laptop and printer for use by the general public at designated times and for groups that use the Centre during their bookings. This has wireless broadband connection and is available for public use free of charge, with one to one tuition, if required, to learn basic skills, email, etc on Mondays 7.30 to 9 pm and Tuesdays 9.30 to 12.30. If preferred you can bring along your own laptop. Please ring 824102 to pre-book a session.

In order to make this work we need volunteers to act as mentors when the computer is available for public access a few hours per week. So if you are interested in helping out with this project we would love to hear from you.

Portland Weight Watchers meets in the Main Hall weekly every Monday evening from 6 - 7 pm. For further information about the meetings please contact Sarah Grummitt on 01305 250062.

Yoga - Anna Eveleigh is running Yoga classes for mixed abilities on Tuesdays from 7 - 8.30 pm in six weekly sessions. For further information, contact Anna on 01305 820116. Agatha Rodgers leads a Hatha Yoga class on Thursday mornings 9.30 to 11.00 am. The cost is £4.50 per session, please ring Agatha on 07973 2809943 for more information.

Breastfriends meet weekly on Thursdays in the Main Hall from 1100 to 1230 for a breast feeding café. All breast feeding mothers are welcome, so come along for a laugh, a cuppa and if you have any questions or problems with feeding, we will help. You are welcome to bring your lunch. Support and advice from other mums, midwives and health visitors is also available. Just come along or contact the Portland Health Visitors Team on 860596 for further information. FREE but donations requested for tea/coffee.

The Royal Manor Rag Ruggers have expanded and now meet in the Main Hall on the second Saturday of each month from 2-4.30 pm. Enquiries to: 821629 or 264753.

Crafty Pals meet on Tuesday mornings from 10-12 where like-minded people can discuss craft ideas and share their favourite craft with others. Bring along your own craft, take the opportunity to learn something new. £2 per week. Please contact Monica Young on 0776 2909997 if you would like to put your name on the waiting list to join.

The Portland Healers meet every Wednesday evening between 7.00 and 8.30 pm in the Main Hall and offer spiritual healing by registered Healers. For more information please call 860611 or 820038.

Community 2000 runs Crafty Coffee Mornings with various craft demonstrations are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 10.00-12.30. Contact Wilma on 824102 for the latest information.

The Isle of Portland Country Market is held every Friday from 9 to 11.30 am, selling home-made cakes, pastries, jams, preserves and free range eggs. Also available are crafts, knitwear and clothing, handmade greetings cards, cross-stitch pictures, jewellery and lots more. A variety of vegetables and plants are also on sale when in season. Easton Christmas Promise on Friday 9 December from 5 - 9 pm. A little way ahead but it is planned to run Craft Fairs in the Community Centre and in the Jubilee Hall as part of the Late Night Shopping Event. BABY SIGN SING AND PLAY Meets on a Monday morning from 10 to 11 am in the Main Hall at C2000, this fun and lively group is led by Sandra Dogan. Please contact Sandra on 01305 822960 for more information.

FIRST DORSET CREDIT UNION The service point for FDCU is now operated from the meeting room at C2000 on Friday mornings from 9 - 11 am.
